Humans Effects on Climate Change Essay Example

Climate Change and Humans’ Effects on Climate Change

Climate change is simply the long-term change in the earth’s weather patterns that results in new states that define the earth’s local, regional, and global climate (Rohling, 2019). The term climate change is usually used interchangeably with the term global warming, which has a distinct meaning. Global warming is associated with change in weather and it involves the long-term heating of the earth’s climate system. Get legit paper writing services now!

This paper seeks to determine if climate change exists and whether Humans’ Effects on Climate Change. This paper argues that human effects on Climate Change have accelerated climate change due to activities such as burning fossil fuels. To support this statement, data on climate change along with reasons on how humans have contributed to climate change will be provided.

Exploring Occurrence and Non-occurrence of Climate Change

Based on various indicators that exist in the modern world, it is clear that the world climate is undergoing permanent change in an abnormal rate. One indicator is that the air temperatures over the land and the oceans are increasing. It is clear that temperatures have risen nearly as twice in the past 50 years that is a sign of global warming. With the increase in temperatures in the oceans, more floods and hurricanes are now being experienced. Another indicator is that the sea ice in the arctic has been shrinking over time.

Another major indicator of climate change is the disappearance of glaciers that implies that more ice is melting than it is being replaced. Another major indicator is that the sea levels have been rising over the past century that has been caused by glaciers melting at a faster rate (The Climate Reality Project, 2019). With the indicators discussed, it is clear that there exist visual signs that are an indicator that climate change is occurring. The next part will provide feedback on how climate change has developed over time.

Climate History and Development of Climate Change

The changes associated with climate change did not occur instantly but have developed gradually over time. Each change that is exhibited can be associated with a gradual and continuous change that is adverse. For instance, changes in temperatures captured on a graph depict a gradual increase in temperature that began in early 1900s and increased sharply since the 1980s (See appendix 1).

This implies there exist underlying factors that has contributed to this change over time. A similar trend exhibiting deterioration has also been captured with the arctic sea ice that has declined since the 1960s to modern day (See appendix 2). Another major indicator has been an increase in the sea levels that has been associated with a gradual and a consistent increase in the level of water in the sea (The Climate Reality Project, 2019). Since the 1870, the sea-level anomaly that is the difference between sea-level and average sea level has increased from -190 to 70 (See appendix 3).

Therefore, given these statistics, it is clear that climate change has intensified in the second half of the previous decade. This raises concern on the activities that may have contributed the changes that have occurred. One valid argument that can be given is that the activities of Humans Effects on Climate Change. It is clear that in late 1800s, there were few industrial activities that could have resulted in pollution.

However, this changed with industrialization that intensified in the mid-1900s. Based on questions prompted, it is clear that climate change has occurred over the last 900000 years and is still occurring today. The information provided rules out any argument that could consider climate change as an idea to eliminate the power industry or even as an initiative to mask real problems of the day. Therefore, it obvious that Humans Effects on Climate Change. In this regard, the next part will provide proof based on how humans have contributed to climate change.

Contribution of Humans to Climate Change

Humans Effects on Climate Change can be attributed to activities undertaken by human beings such as burning fuels. At first, through industrialization and use of machines powered by fossil fuels, humans have resulted in great increase in the CO2 emissions. Activities such as burning coal and petroleum by industries and machines have greatly increased the emission of harmful gases to the atmosphere.

These gases usually result in the depletion of the ozone layers that is responsible for the increased global temperatures (Rohling, 2019). This has been one of the major factors that have contributed to climate change in the globe which can be directly attributed to humans.

Another way that the Humans Effects on Climate Change is through the destruction of natural vegetables. Trees and natural vegetation usually play a significant role in removing COfrom the environment. This greatly contributes to the reduction of the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that reduces population. With the activities of Humans Effects on Climate Change, activities such as deforestation have been on the rise thus contribution to high level of CO2 in the atmosphere (Carbon Brief, 2020).

Population increase has also been another significant factor due to the increased need for sustaining life. As a result, activities such as mining and industrialization are forced to increase that is associated with increased levels of pollution. Therefore, it is clear that humans have played a significant role in contributing to climate change.

Causes of Humans Effects on Climate Change

Although humans have greatly contributed to climate change due to emission of greenhouse gases such as methane, nitrous oxide, and COamong others, there also exist natural factors that have had a similar effect. At first, one natural factor that is considered to contribute to climate change are the natural forest fires. Such fires usually result in the emission of pollution gases such as CO2 and destruction of vegetation that is responsible for producing oxygen.

Another factor is permafrost that constitutes 25% of the Northern Hemisphere. This frozen soil usually keeps CO2 and methane and releases them to the atmosphere that could be responsible for pollution. Another factor is water vapor that is trapped in the ozone blanket that is unable to escape and results in increased temperature (Carbon Brief, 2020).

Conclusion

This paper provides evidence on the role played by Humans Effects on Climate change. At first, it is clear that climate change exists and that over the past century, various changes in the natural climate have occurred. Some of the indicators identified include increased temperatures, increase sea water levels, and melting of arctic ice among others.

The main argument supported is that humans have played a significant role in contributing to climate change. This has been attributed to the increased emissions of greenhouse gases caused by activities such as industrialization. Other human activities that have been discussed include deforestation as well as outcomes emanating from over-population.

Various natural causes have also been discussed but it is clear that their impact is minimal compared to that of human activities. In this regard, this paper concludes that climate change exists and it is not a excuse by government to cover the real challenges of the modern world.
